Choosing an alarm system is a decision for years. The panel is the heart of the install, but the keypad is what you touch every day. Classic buttons or a touchscreen? It usually depends on the room.
The panel — for example PulsON Alarm 2.0 4G — runs the system. The device you meet every day is the keypad.
The market offers classic keypads with buttons and modern touchscreens. Which one fits a home or a small site better? It depends on the room. That is why installers often recommend a mixed layout.
PulsON LCD/C and LCD/S — the classic where you need it
Traditional LCD keypads — physical keys (LCD/C) or sensor keys (LCD/S) — are still the backbone of alarm systems. Their strength is reliability and a fast, tactile response.
Where they work best
- Garage, boiler room, workshop. You come in with shopping, dirty hands after the garden, or you are in a hurry. A button you can feel is simply convenient.
- Utility rooms and staff areas. Where people only need to arm or disarm quickly, a classic keypad is durable and cost-effective.
PulsON TouchBus 7" — a command centre in the living room
In the representative parts of a house, a purely technical device rarely belongs on the wall. TouchBus 7" is a 7-inch colour touch keypad made for those rooms.
Why consider a touchscreen?
- Design. It looks like a tablet on the wall and fits a hallway, lobby or living room.
- Phone-like operation. The graphic interface is easy for children and for older users.
- More than an alarm. From the large screen you can also run a gate, blinds or lights, without reaching for the phone.
A hybrid approach: budget and comfort without a compromise
You do not have to pick one keypad type for the whole site. Different PulsON Alarm keypads can share the same bus.
The most sensible setup — for comfort and for cost — is hybrid:
- In the main hallway or living room, TouchBus 7" as the representative command centre.
- In the garage, at the back door or in the basement, solid and cheaper LCD keypads that cope better with tougher conditions.
You get a premium device where people look at it, and a rational cost where only the function matters.
